This page explains how ToolHa uses cookies and similar technologies, such as your browser’s local storage, and how you can control them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
In short
- ToolHa itself does not use tracking cookies. Our own settings are kept in your browser and are never sent to us.
- We use Google Analytics cookies to count visits and see which tools are used, and advertising partners such as Google may use cookies. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland they are only used after you click Accept.
- You can clear or block all of them at any time in your browser.
What are cookies and local storage?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. Local storage and session storage are similar browser features that let a page remember settings on your device. Unlike cookies, the items we keep in local storage are not sent to our servers with each request.
Storage used by ToolHa
These items are strictly functional, stay on your device and are never sent to us:
| Name | Type | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| th-theme | Local storage | Remembers light, dark or automatic mode | Until you clear it |
| th-pins | Local storage | Your favourite tools | Until you clear it |
| th-recent | Local storage | Your recent searches | Until you clear it |
| th-recent-tools | Local storage | Tools you used recently, shown on the homepage | Until you clear it |
| th-hist-… | Local storage | Your last few conversions on a tool page | Until you clear it |
| th-rate-… | Local storage | Remembers the star rating you gave a tool | Until you clear it |
| th-wc-… | Local storage | Word counter: your draft (only while “Save draft on this device” is ticked), your chosen target and voice-typing language | Until you clear it or untick the box |
| th-consent | Local storage | Remembers your cookie choice (Accept or Reject), so we do not ask again | Until you clear it or change it in “Cookie settings” |
| th-v-… | Session storage | Makes sure an anonymous tool view is counted only once per visit | Until you close the tab |
| Site file cache | Browser cache | Keeps styles, scripts, fonts and icons for faster loading | Until updated or cleared |
Website administrators who log in to manage the site also receive standard WordPress login cookies. Visitors do not.
Advertising cookies
We use Google AdSense and may use other advertising partners. They may place cookies (for example __gads, __gpi or IDE) to show ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure performance, prevent fraud and, with your consent where required, personalise ads. These cookies are set and controlled by the advertising partner and usually last up to 13 months. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Analytics cookies
We use Google Analytics 4, a service provided by Google, to count visits and see which pages and tools are used, so we know what to improve. It sets these first-party cookies:
| Name | Set by | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics | A random ID that tells returning visits apart from new ones | 2 years |
| _ga_Z4F6CJNENY | Google Analytics | Keeps the state of your current visit (session) | 2 years |
Google Analytics tells us things like the pages viewed, the approximate country or city, the type of device and browser, and how you found us. It does not tell us who you are, it does not store your IP address, and nothing you type into a tool is ever sent to it. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland these cookies are only set after you click Accept; if you choose Reject, Google Analytics only receives basic signals without cookies or identifiers (Google Consent Mode). Staff who are logged in to manage the site are not counted.
Your choices
- Cookie message: visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are asked to Accept or Reject before analytics or advertising cookies are used. Anyone can change their choice at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page, or with the button below.
- Google Analytics: you can also stop Google Analytics on every website with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
- Personalised ads: manage or turn them off at Google Ads Settings, aboutads.info or, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu.
- Browser settings: you can block or delete cookies, local storage and site data in your browser settings. Blocking our functional storage only means your theme, favourites and recent tools will not be remembered.
Changes to this policy
We update this page when the cookies or storage we use change. The date at the top shows the latest version.
